Handmade in France
At Pure RoK, all our soaps are clean and handmade using the most natural oils and fragrances available. We do not use any synthetic fragrances or artificial colours. Our soaps are handmade in small batches. Quality control is easy to oversee as each newly pressed soap is checked as soon as it leaves the mould.
Wherever possible Pure RoK uses naturally derived ingredients. We source all our ingredients from a company we trust. To our knowledge, we only use ingredients that are as natural as possible. Whatever other companies tell you, soap is never truly 100% natural, although it can be very close to 99%. The reason for this is that during the soap making process, we mix sodium hydroxide with liquid, and this mixture is called lye. All REAL soaps use lye.
The chemical reaction that turns the oils into solid soap is called saponification. When the saponification is complete, the lye and oil have combined and chemically changed into soap and glycerin. So, soap made correctly should not have any lye remaining in the finished bars.
Cold process soap is made without any external heat being applied to it. All the oils and lye are mixed together, which triggers the saponification process. Then the colour and fragrance are added so it can be poured into a mould.
Hot process soap is one of the more traditional ways of making soap, and as the name suggests, the soap making process involves cooking the oils. After mixing all the required oils together in a large pot and ‘cooked’ for 3 hours.
Glycerin Soap is also called Melt and Pour soap. We use a non-sweat base, which is white in appearance and is a specially formulated base for humid conditions. It lathers well and produces a rich foam.
Hello. Welcome to my world of handmade soaps. I am so happy you found me because it means you are interested in finding out more about cleaner living (literally!) and helping to save the environment – our beautiful world!
And if you are feeling fed up with cleansing products loaded with awful chemicals and empty promises, you have come to the right place.
Have you ever stopped to wonder how your soap has been made? Here at Pure RoK, our soaps are made by hand and produced with oils, fats and butters that are as natural as they can be. These are the base ingredients mixed with lye. However, to ensure the soaps look and smell as good as they feel, we add essential oils, natural fragrances and colouring into the mix.
Although it might sound easy, all soap producers must adhere to strict rules and regulations. To make and sell handmade products, it is necessary to undergo a cosmetic products safety assessment. This ensures that the products comply with UK and EU cosmetic regulations. Pure RoK has passed all the assessments and we have the certificate to prove it.
